A yakiniku restaurant specializing in Saga beef; they make an effort to make available rarer cuts at all times

Once can expect a fantastic dining experience simply based on the fact that this restaurant specializing in Japanese black beef has been in operation for five years on the bustling streets of Higashi-Shinsaibashi, where foodies from all walks of life gather. "Japanese Black Beef Restaurant Fujiwara" is a yakiniku restaurant on Mitsutera Street, one of the main streets in Higashi-Shinnsai Bashi. What’s their secret to remaining so popular on this constantly busy street?

A delectable sweetness sans the greasy taste

As one can tell by the restaurant's name, this place specializes in "Japanese black beef." The restaurant specializes in Japanese brand beef/Saga beef, differentiating it from others. The owner Fujiwara boasts that "Saga beef has a subtle flavor within the savory taste of this non-oily, tender beef, more so than many of the other brands." While Fujiwara at 31 is young, he has been in the yakiniku business for over 10 years if you include his time in training. His judgment is unquestionably good.

There are many people who enjoy yakiniku alone or at the counter

We recommend trying the prime Japanese black beef tongue (2,000 yen) or the rare kainomi (bottom part of short loins) (1,500 yen), either of which we are confident will captivate anyone from the first bite. The interior of this restaurant, which is limited to a counter that wraps around the preparation area, seats 18 (up to 8 groups), and is set up so that patrons can see the owner's preparation of the meat from any seat. There is a variety of ways to enjoy the atmosphere of this unconventional yakiniku restaurant. "There are many people who have yakiniku alone or people who sit at the bar and only drink sake," says Fujiwara.
