Among the many restaurants that specialize in a certain food or cooking style, you would expect one that specializes in shellfish, shrimp, and crab; seafood that popular among men and women of all ages. We’ve finally come across such a restaurant. When looking at the menu, one notices the array of shellfish, shrimp, and crab dishes, starting with dishes such as “torofuwa ebihei” (shrimp fritters) (500 yen) or surf clam and crab potato salad (450 yen), to shrimp ajillo (800 yen), plump and big fried shrimp (500 yen), and shellfish rice dashichazuke (500 yen).
"If anything, I wanted to differentiate ourselves from other restaurants with our specialized menu display," says Hiroshi, owner of Shellfish, Shrimp, and Crab. He chose to open his restaurant in Higashi-Shinsaibashi because he himself loved walking around and drinking sake, and eating great food in Minami back when he was younger, and so when opening a store opted for the Minami area over Kita. Minami is more diverse in factors such as the age and style of customers. In addition, he says the motto "suitable prices for exquisite cuisine" is the key to surviving in Gekisen-ku/Minami.
Although you cannot call the inside of the counter-only venue holding only 8 seats "spacious" by any means, the restaurant's relaxing, "at-home" atmosphere is so peaceful that you’ll forget that it's in the heart of Higashi-Shinsaibashi. "You are free to come early and enjoy a nice meal, or enjoy the restaurant with the carefree mood of a bar," says Hiroshi. This is the restaurant to visit if you are hungry in Mitsutera.
