This hideaway-like bar is on "Dojima Kami-dori", one of the main streets of Kitashinchi, the renowned Osaka-Kita nightlife district. Open the street-side door and ascend the stairs to find a relaxed atmosphere with only a counter and two tables. The bar interior is wood-based with soft lighting, making it perfect for spending time relaxing. There is also sufficient space between the tables and counter seats, providing a great venue for spending special bar time with special companions.
The interior boasts an "authentic bar" atmosphere, but another appealing aspect of this bar is actually the ability to enjoy various foods as well. One of the bar's signature dishes is its gratin, which is homemade daily, and as the bar manager says, "Gratin is our bar's main point. We imagine it as a place where you can also get wine as well." There are over ten types of gratin available depending on the day and the season, including dishes such as " Seafood gratin full of fruits of the sea" and " Fresh chicken tenderloin gratin with pickled ume and yam" (both 1,000 yen), "Mustard meal gratin with foie gras and fried onion" (1,500 yen), and more.
The myriad variety goes without saying, but the aroma of the fermented butter from the Takachiho region of Miyazaki and the richness of the béchamel sauce are also part of the allure of the gratin. Additionally, the bar features a wide variety of other dishes as well, such as "Fruit and mozzarella cheese caprese" (800 yen), "Grilled tuna cheek with genovese sauce" (1,200 yen), "Oven-baked lamb with wine sauce" (1,200 yen), and more. While providing an excellent first stop of the night, the bar serves perfectly well as a second or third stop as well.
